Johnjo junior scores on Dead Right Johnjo O'Neill junior made it third time lucky at Punchestown this week when guiding Dead Right to victory in the concluding bumper this evening. The Neil Mulholland-trained gelding was produced to lead turning for home in the two-miler and stuck on well in the closing stages. 4/5 favourite Next Destination couldn't live with the raider in the closing stages, going down by four-and-a-half lengths. O'Neill, carrying the colours of JP McManus to victory, had had two rides on the opening day of the meeting. “I'm delighted, it was a decent race,” said Mulholland. “He got a little slight nick behind when he ran over hurdles and he missed so much time. I thought it would be a good place to come and teach him a bit more. “We'll speak to the boss and see what happens now. He's a lovely horse and we're delighted with him.”
