Gavin Cromwell’s Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin has finished for the season and embarked on his summer break.

The seven-year-old has left Cromwell’s County Meath yard for owner JP McManus’ Martinstown Stud in Limerick where he will enjoy a few months at grass.

Connections had been considering an attempt at doubling up in the Punchestown Gold Cup, but the decision has been taken end his campaign with no sign of rain on the horizon.

Cromwell said: “He’s gone home. We just decided that he’s a young horse, it’s unbelievable what he’s achieved this year with winning a Gold Cup and we just thought it best.

“Looking at the long-range forecast, we just thought we’d mind him and next year all roads will lead towards the Gold Cup again.”
