Moyhenna provided trainer/rider Denis Hogan with one of his career highs to date when making all to land the Hanlon Concrete Irish EBF Glencarraig Lady Francis Flood Mares Handicap Chase at Punchestown.
The seven-year-old daughter of Westerner put up a fine round of jumping over this two miles and five furlongs, and stayed on strongly in the closing stages.
The 5/1 chance had four and a half lengths to spare over Timeforwest with Ask Susan a further ten lengths adrift in third.
Hogan said, “We’ve had Listed winners and Premier Handicap winners on the Flat and Grade Two wins over jumps but that’s my biggest winner as a rider. There won’t be too many more of them, and I’m not sure I’ll ride too many more over fences.
“Plenty of lads tell me I should concentrate on the training but the riding keeps me fit and keeps my eye in. I love riding work and I love schooling. It’s great to get a day like that after a long season.
“She didn’t get her ground but coped with it all the same. Hopefully she’ll be kept in training and we could have a crack at the Irish National next year. That’s the long term goal.
“For a novice to jump the way she does is worth ten lengths. When she got a bit of company she went on again.”
