Fleet destroys rivals in Land Rover Commander Of Fleet powered away from his rivals in impressive fashion to claim the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown for Gordon Elliott. The Gigginstown gelding had won his sole point start at Moig South last month and was sent to post a 5/1 shot for today's €100,000 contest. Barry O'Neill kicked for home turning into the straight on the Fame And Glory gelding and he sprinted clear to post an eight-and-a-half length success. Stable-mate Column Of Fire, also in the Gigginstown colours, chased him home and Elliott completed a clean sweep with Santana Plessis claiming the third spot. Bolted up! Commander Of Fleet looks one for the future with a wide-margin win in the Goffs Land Rover Bumper. Off the mark at @punchestownrace, it's a 1-2-3 for @gelliott_racing... pic.twitter.com/hYoFSiy4ia— At The Races (@AtTheRaces) April 24, 2018 It was a first strike at the meeting for championship leader Elliott having seen title rival Willie Mullins land a treble on the card in the three previous races. Elliott said:- “He’s a nice horse and a big thanks goes to Pat Doyle who trained him to win a point-to-point. Michael and Eddie said if he’s good enough to take to the Land Rover then take him. “I only have him from the week after he won his point-to-point. I haven’t galloped him, just cantered him away. Pat did all the hard work with him. “He’ll be a nice horse with a summer’s grass, and it’s a good result to get the 1-2-3.” (Additional reporting by Alan Magee)
