On his long-awaited reappearance Zawraq couldn't justify odds-on favouritism in the Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown as he had to yield to Joe Murphy's 11/1 chance Flying Fairies
Gary Carroll rode the three-year-old Holy Roman Emperor filly, Flying Fairies, and there was no living with her in the final furlong as she put three and a quarter lengths between herself and Dermot Weld's Zawraq.
"We were hoping to be placed as we thought the Weld horse was a serious horse," said Murphy.
"She won on fast ground in Fairyhouse and after Sunday we thought the trip would suit.
"We rode her to, hopefully, get placed, but Gary said when she picked it up and went on it was game over.
"She's in the sales. Whether we keep her I don't know.
"A nice race to start off in would maybe the Park Express Stakes if she stays.
"She has a nice pedigree and has never run a bad race. She's never been out of the first three or four."
C.D. Hayes, rider of My Brother trained by Lee Smyth, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with slight interference.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Hibiscus trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount had to check in the straight.
