Runner-up Rodney Bay served notice in the preceding race that a win was imminent, and handler Joe Murray put a first on the board since 2018 when Burning Lake landed the HOLLYWOODBETS Winter Series Awards Day 18th April Apprentice Handicap.
Rodney Bay was a 66/1 shot that went down by a nose, but under Joey Sheridan Burning Lake was much more of the expected variety as a 7/2 co favourite.
The well-backed Le Havre gelding got the better of another market-leader, Kinch by a neck.
“I'm delighted for Joseph and Lisa. They had a second in the race beforehand so it's good to get his head in front,” said Sheridan.
“It's my first time riding for Joe. He's been consistent of late, he rolled around a small bit but once you make his mind up for him he went and done it a shade cosy in the end.
“He might flourish now and might win another one or two hopefully.”
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Is That Love trained by Adrian McGuinness, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
C.J. MacRedmond, rider of Is That Love trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of room in the straight. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the matter the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
D. McMonagle, rider of Crystal Pool trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount fly leaped from the gates and then leaned right under pressure.
