Derby runner-up Madhmoon's half-sister Alaroos registered a second success today, landing Dundalk's concluding William Rogers Construction Ltd Handicap for trainer Kevin Prendergast, jockey Chris Hayes and Shadwell Estate Company.
Held up behind the leaders, Hayes produced the daughter of Golden Horn to lead a furlong out and the pair eventually held Fleet Commander by a neck.
Afterwards Hayes said “she had a cracking run here the last day and she loves the surface. She's very straightforward, genuine and the step up in trip is no issue to her.
“She has a beautiful pedigree, I don't know what the immediate plans are and whether she's in the sales or not. With a pedigree like that you'd love to go chasing black-type at some stage but if there is another handicap between now and the sales, we might have another go.”
Madhmoon had finished second for today's same connections in the 2019 Epsom Derby, failing by just half a length to winner Anthony Van Dyck.
