Weld keeps up the strike-rate
Trainer Dermot Weld, who has a 25 per cent strike-rate on the flat at Bellewstown since 2007, sent Oh What A Kitten to the track to get her first victory in the one mile maiden.
Pat Smullen had the 11/8 favourite prominent throughout and the pair fought a battle out with Jouster and Ben Curtis from the top of the hill.
The jockey made good use of the rail to guide his three-year-old filly home by half a length. Edenshaw stayed on for third place a length and a quarter back.
Smullen said: “She battled very well but ideally wants a bit further.
“She was quite well drawn and everything worked out well today.”
The winner was backed in from 7/4 to 11/8 on course while second place Jouster also attracted support from 4/1 to 11/4.
