Ruby Walsh completed a double at Wexford when adding to his first race gains on Gordon Elliott's Sanibel Island by taking race three, the Paddy And Chrissie Donohoe Memorial Maiden Hurdle on Henry de Bromhead's Burndown
Much like fellow 4/5 shot Sanibel Island, Burndown had to work for his win and the Gigginstown House Stud-owned five-year-old was all out to beat Call The Taxie by a head.
"I'm delighted with that, he got a super ride from Ruby as usual," commented de Bromhead.
"He is a big baby and only just got up. He is very immature and he is going to improve a lot.
"The sooner he can get to a fence the better I'd say. If he is meeting a fence next May that would be ideal for him.
"I'm delighted he won his maiden hurdle and he'll only improve. He will go the novice route now and I think you could step him up in trip.
"Ruby said the better the race the better he'll be because he'll have a lead in a better race. I can't stress enough how immature and green he is so he will keep improving."
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Blue Owen trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
