Rekindling improved one placing on his debut runner-up effort at the Galway festival when landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden at Gowan today for trainer David Wachman and jockey Wayne Lordan.
The son of High Chapparal had finished second to subsequent Listed winner and 108 rated Capri on debut at Galway and seemed to benefit from that experience today, scoring a two and a half lengths win over World War
Wachman later stated “he's a grand colt, ran well in Galway and is a nice horse.
“I don't know where he'll go now but he’ll be a grand mile-and-a-half horse. I'll speak to the owners but it's possible he might not run again this year as he's only a frame.”
The retiring Classic winning trainer also quipped “Ger Lyons (trainer) told me to tell the press that whoever gets him next year would be some mug if they mess him up!”
