Gordon Elliott completed a Wexford treble today as the trainer's Silver Breeze was an all-out nose winner of the concluding Country Fest (Pro-Am) Bumper, for jockey Harry Swan.
Returned the 2/1 favourite, the daughter of Shirocco was strongly pressed in the last strides by unlucky in-running, fast-finishing Second Subaltern under sporting owner John Reddington, whose previous winner was in 2013.
A nose separated the pair and following the race Swan reported “I thought we had just held on but obviously I was a little bit worried. I hadn't ridden her before but she looks a lovely filly and stayed going all the way to the line to be fair to her. She settled lovely today and I'd say she could get a bit further in time.
"That's my sixteenth winner."
Elliott has made a good start to the new season and earlier had Wexford winners with the Corey McGivern-partnered Dartington (16/1) and the Conor McNamara-ridden Call Me Lyreen (1/4f).
