After recording a treble at Leopardstown yesterday, Henry de Bromhead was again on the mark at the Foxrock venue today, as his Trainwreck took the Paddy Power 'You Beauty' Handicap Hurdle.
Successful at Clonmel on his penultimate start, the son of Stowaway since finished second to Us And Them in a novice contest at Punchestown.
Making his debut in handicap company today, the five-year-old gelding was sent off a 4/1 chance with Dylan Robinson in the saddle.
Settled behind the leaders on the outer, he came with his challenge approaching the last, and was ridden out in the closing stages to get the better of Ben Dundee by three lengths.
The runner-up was returned the 7/2 favourite (from 9/2) under Davy Russell for Gordon Elliott, while Lion In His Heart (25/1), also trained by de Bromhead, was another six lengths back in third with Robbie Power in the saddle.
"He's a lovely horse and a horse we've always liked a lot," said de Bromhead.
"We were a bit disappointed in Galway, the first day, when he got beaten. It was a long journey home that day but it turned out to be a very good race. He was just green and is a big baby.
"He's really finding his feet now. He won his maiden hurdle well and was beaten by a nice horse of Joseph's the last day.
"We said we'd have a go here and he was good. I'm delighted with him.
"He's still a novice so we'll see how things unfold. He's had two quick runs so we're in no rush now.
"I'd say he appreciated the bit of nicer ground as well. We'll see what Michael and Eddie would like to do now. He'll be a nice horse for chasing."
