Three days, four winners for red-hot Condon
The opening race on the final day of the Killarney July Festival, the Dawn Omega Milk Maiden over a mile and three furlongs for four year olds plus, went the way of Peaks Of Fire for in form trainer Ken Condon with Shane Foley aboard.
The 4yo son of High Chaparral was having his first start since November of 2010, but he didn't look as if that was the case, staying on well to score at 7/1.
Held up early on the winner was sixth under four furlongs out. He was then ridden to chase the leaders in third over two furlongs out and closed over a furlong out.
He stayed on well inside the final furlong to catch the 5/2 favourite Melodie D'Armour, who attempted to make all.
The win was trainer Condon's fourth in the space of three days, having scored with Liberty Island at Dundalk on Tuesday, Coprah here at Killarney also on Tuesday and Sebadee again over the course yesterday.
Wife of the winning trainer Pauline Ryan said afterwards: "Ken is in Leopardstown, we have two runners up there this evening. The owners are away on business at the moment.
"He is a nice staying sort and he will stay further.
"He is a genuine horse and will run in a Handicap next."
