Taffy scores to keep favourite backers happy
Uncle Taffy for trainer Tony Martin and jockey Ruby Walsh took the opening race on the card at Cork this evening, the corkracecourse.ie Handicap Hurdle.
The 7yo son of Ashkalani raced well off the pace but he was produced with his run from before the straight. All the way from before two out it looked like Uncle Taffy’s race for the taking and he didn’t disappoint his enthusiastic owners, the Plenty Of Spock Syndicate, when asked from the back of the last the 3/1 favourite produced enough to beat Menwaal by half a length.
One of the members of the winning Plenty of Spock Syndicate said afterwards, "Tony (Martin) is in Down Royal, he said Ruby would need no instructions.
2This is our first horse and there is eight in the syndicate."
