Signal Fire sinks Pirate Ship
Odds-on punters were stung in the Brubaker's Bar Race at Dundalk tonight when Dermot Weld's Signal Fire (11/4) overturned 4/9f Pirate Ship
Signal Fire, a son of Mizzen Mast, made all and while Pirate Ship looked briefly short of room on the inner over a furlong out, failed to quicken as well as the winner close home.
Weld was absent but winning jockey Pat Smullen did report "we thought he was a fair horse when he won here two runs back and this confirms that what we previously thought of him. It was windy and wet when he ran badly here a fortnight ago, over a trip which was too far from him."
