Russell at his best aboard Archie Boy

The O’Dwyer Steel Like-A-Butterfly Novice Chase saw a game winner in the Paul Flynn trained Archie after he came in front for trainer Paul Flynn.

Davy Russell settled the Basanta gelding in behind the leaders before progressing to lead after two out and kept on well for a three length win over Wins Now

Winning trainer Flynn said afterwards: “He’s been a great old servant and he’ll have a break now until February or March.”

“The plan is to run him at Aintree. He needs a real fast pace over two miles which he didn’t get at Listowel.”
