Razdan was rerouted to Dundalk today having taken a rain check at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, with trainer Chris Timmons' decision paying dividends as he landed the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Maiden.
The Aga Khan-bred son of Zoffany had been frustrating but today, on his 13th outing, scored under an expertly timed ride by Gary Halpin, edging past 4/9 favourite Elzaamsan in the closing stages for a half length win.
It was Timmons' second training success and later said “he was due to run over hurdles at Fairyhouse on Wednesday but there was just plenty of rain and we decided to sit it out. He jumps well and we'll have a bit of fun with him.
“He did it very well today and I thought Gary gave him a very good ride, he picked up well. We thought he might have needed the run here the last day and he came forward from it at home.”
Timmons, also a jump jockey who turned up at Fairyhouse for three rides for trainer Eddie Cawley, added “he (Razdan) could possibly run over hurdles if the ground dries out in the spring. He'll be a nice dual purpose horse.
“He is entered for the Triumph Hurdle but that is unlikely. Maybe if he got qualified for the Boodles Hurdle he could run, but we are running out of time for that.”
