Rebellious Gale landed the 2m6f handicap hurdle in Limerick as the second leg of a gamble on Emmet Mullins' horses went astray when Shiroccoville was pulled up.
Mullins' Big Jim Dwyer was backed to win the opening claimer which he did, but a similar gamble on Shiroccoville (4/6f) was foiled when she was eased, pulled up and dismounted before the seventh.
Rebellious Gale raced close to the pace rounding the home bend and took aim at Silver Planeur two out.
He passed that rival near the last and kept on the well along the run-in to hit the line two and three quarter lengths clear at 11/2. Dalileo (9/1) came home for second by a head from Well Joey (18/1) as Silver Planeur (50/1) weakened to fourth.
Jockey Peter Carberry said: "He had a nice run the last day and probably two miles around Kilbeggan was sharp enough for him, but I'd say the track sharpened him up as he had been lacklustre.
"He has pulled it all together today and hopefully will progress from that.
"Fair dues to the owners who have stuck by him as he took a while to find his feet."
Trainer Tony Martin won four races with Rebellious Gale's dam Victrix Gale who also scored in Britain for Nicky Henderson.
