Quinola bolts up on hurdles bow
Quinola Des Obeaux goes particularly well on heavy ground and the dual bumper winner emphasised that point again when sauntering to success in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle on his jumping bow.
Emmet Mullins made all on the French-bred and he jumped well in the main before going on to easily beat Black Alpine by five lengths in a race where very few got competitive.
Winning trainer, Willie Mullins, uncle of the successful rider, said: "He jumped well enough and it is great to see Emmet getting a winner on him. He is great value for his claim. I think he'll stay further than that (two miles) and he obviously handles this ground very well.
"He is a chaser for next year. I was afraid coming here today with him and Morning Supreme after the way Cadspeed ran in Down Royal yesterday. Cadspeed is fine this morning and maybe it's just like it was in his bumper days in that he just takes a run or two to get to his peak."
