Michael O’Callaghan’s Queen Of Power was the red-hot favourite for the seven furlong maiden in Gowran Park and her backers never had a moments worry as she hosed up by four and three quarter lengths.

The 4/9 shot had the plum draw in gate one and moved swiftly into the head when the stalls opened. Fergal Lynch asked her to go on and win her race at the two furlong pole and she galloped away from her rivals.

“She was definitely entitled to win. That went according to plan. We kept it simple as we thought she was the best horse in the race and there was no pace in the race. She got a bit lonely in front and that’s why Fergal had to give her a slap,” Michael O’Callaghan said.

“She had a good blow and I expect her to come on from that. It wasn’t a Curragh maiden, but she still might take her chance in the Irish Guineas. It’s a huge step up, but I may never have a chance again with one.

“She only just handles soft. She would prefer good ground as she has a lovely action. She would probably be better in a better race as she has a good cruising speed. A mile will suit her better.” Angel Of Joy on debut for Ger Lyons, kept on for second at 14/1. Another debutant, Jim Bolger’s Chance To Dance took third at 7/1 another three and three quarter lengths back.

Queen Of Power had been fifth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last-time out, beaten under three lengths.
