The Henry de Bromhead-trained Inthepocket made a big impression on his 'track' debut when running out a cosy winner of the opening maiden hurdle at Wexford this afternoon.

The Blue Bresil gelding won his sole outing in point-to-points at Moig South last November and made £290,000 at the sales following that success.

Now in the colours of JP McManus he went to post 7/4 favourite on his racecourse bow and tracked the leaders in the two-mile contest.

Rachael Blackmore sent her mount to the front at the second last and he was in control over the last, going on to record a comfortable six-length success over Transmission

The winning rider said:- "He is a really nice horse. He won a point-to-point for Paul Cashman and hopefully he will have a nice future.

“He is a straightforward horse to ride and seemed to real enjoy jumping. He was little bit keen early on but on that ground it wouldn't be long about taking it out of him.

"He did as much as we could have asked of him on his first day out. I had schooled him at home and had been able to keep an eye on him. Hopefully he can build on that performance.”
