Persistence Pays Off for Vinatieri
Vinatieri made the most of a light weight in the Clairefontaine-Co Kildare Twinning Handicap Hurdle, just getting home by half a length in the hands of Ian McCarthy.
Owned by Galway man, Gerry Burke, the son of Darazari was breaking his maiden at the eighteenth attempt. His trainer, Dessie Hughes said: "He is reasonably well handicapped. I thought he'd win well turning in but he only just got home. Hopefully there will be another handicap in him, he is in again on Thursday (Thurles). We'll see what the handicapper does. He'd probably be better on better ground."
