Orchidaceae is a filly going places as she added to her Curragh success when taking the opening Irish EBF Auction Series Race in Leopardstown.
This was a step up in trip to an extended 7f after the Churchill filly scored in a maiden over 6f at Headquarters last month.
She broke smartly and soon led for Billy Lee and was stalked at the halfway stage by Green Triangle
Lee asked his mount for more inside the two pole and she kept finding to increase her lead racing to the final furlong. Deo Vero attempted to chase her down, but Orchidaceae was thoroughly professional along the rail as she closed the race out by two lengths from the pursuer (10/3jf). Green Triangle was another length and a-quarter back in third at 4/1.
Andrew Oliver said: “We came here hopeful after her run the last day at the Curragh. Everything went to plan, and Billy gave her a lovely ride. She’s a very forward going filly and loves that good ground.
“You would like to think that she could step up in grade. She has enough speed for six and she gets the seven, so it gives us a few possibilities.
“She could come back here for the Silver Flash.”
