San Martino with two runs already under his belt, put the experience to good use to land the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Killarney.
Always to the fore from his favourable draw in one, the Ballydoyle juvenile eventually ran out a good five length winner in the hands of Wayne Lordan.
Like San Martino, runner-up Dolce Notte is also by The Gurkha.
"He had a nice run the first day and then went to Leopardstown over seven (furlongs) and I had an inside draw but didn't jump well enough and got back too far. Going a mile today, he travelled away and quickened on that ground," said Lordan.
"He is going to be a grand horse going up in trip next year."
K.J. Manning, rider of Stitch Pickings trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran onto heels in the early stages and had to check.
