Luckless eight-race maiden mare Tell Me This overcame frightful form-figures to win on just her third completed-start today, landing Ballinrobe's opening Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle for in-form trainer Ross O'Sullivan and jockey Tom Harney.
A faller in all three point-to-point runs and bumper-placed last March, the Ask-mare thus carried form of 'FF-FB3-5BU' into today's race and having led three out, eventually fought off runner-up Mount Anglesby by five lengths.
Trainer O'Sullivan explained “her form-figures would put off many a jockey from riding her but Tom knows her well, she is actually very good to jump and will jump a fence in time.
“She's a lovely big mare which we got from Nina Carberry and she had been unlucky until now, although had a very good first run for us in a competitive maiden hurdle at Downpatrick.
“There were plenty of fancied horses today and she has probably handled that ground better than the summer horses.”
O'Sullivan made hay with four recent Galway festival winners and added “we met her owner John Rowney (Tinnahinch Construction Limited) in Galway after having our few winners and he bought this mare then. It's his first winner, so it's brilliant."
