O'Donoghue does it his way on Separate
Separate Ways prevailed with a last gasp effort in the Guinness Handicap at Listowel to get himself back on the winning track, taking his score to three wins from his last four starts.
Colm O'Donoghue got the well-supported favourite up on the line to short-head Riobamba Separate Ways' stable companion at David Marnane's Bansha yard, Lime Tree Valley ran a big race to finish a length and a half back in third.
Marnane commented: "We had three worries – the draw, the ground and the weight. He is a really tough horse and did it very well. We have no real plan for him; maybe he has done enough for this year.
"I'm also thrilled with Lime Tree Valley (3rd). He'll run over the coming months on the all-weather."
Meanwhile Colm O'Donoghue said: "I had free rein to ride this fellow whatever way I saw fit and it worked out well. He is great horse and he has done everyone proud all year."
