Trainer/jockey, father and son Aidan and Joseph O'Brien completed a double at Navan today as 8/15 favourite Cook Islands displayed his talents when bolting up in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden.
Earlier successful on his father's newcomer Giant Redwood Joseph O'Brien asked Cook Islands to quicken from two furlongs out and once moving to the front, went right away in the closing stages for an impressive three and a half lengths win over Sea Of Mystery
O''Brien senior wasn't present but jockey Joseph later commented "he ran well first time (at the Curragh). He was very green early doors today but won nicely and a lovely big horse and hopefully can progress. He's huge!"
In contrast, the actual Cook Islands are tiny and made up of 15 islands some distance from nearest big country New Zealand.
