Never Rains was bought-back by her own connections following her win in the opening Golf At Gowran Park (Fillies) Claiming Race at Gowran today as the Denis Hogan-trained filly gained her second career success.
The daughter of No Nay Never was claimed for E7,000 by her owner James McAuley following a win at Killarney on July 19 and today, under jockey Joey Sheridan, bagged first prize of a neat E7,092 when beating runner-up Lappet by three parts of a length.
The in-form Hogan wasn't present and afterwards jockey Sheridan said “she was probably the classiest filly in that race for a claimer.
“I just rode her straight-forward. Denis and the lads said to drop her in fourth or fifth and try and see if I could get her to come home and that's what happened thank-God.
“She ran a good race last time but was a bit unlucky coming out of the stalls as she got a bit squeezed. She came home late and fast but thank-God we did the business there.”
Never Rains was subsequently claimed back by McAuley, who also claimed fourth-placed Timemakesitfine which is now also set to join trainer Hogan.
