Monastrell gets off to winning start

Monastrell looked a horse with a future when making a winning debut in the concluding Lough Developments Ltd-sponsored bumper at Down Royal.

Nina Carberry produced the Terimon gelding to challenge two furlongs out and he soon hit the lead.

He stuck on well in the closing stages to post a three-and-a-half length success over Cass Bligh

"We think he's a nice horse and we've always liked him. Hopefully he goes on from this and we'll probably go jumping now," said trainer Noel Meade.
