Successful with an impressive juvenile winner in the opening race, Ado McGuinness recorded a double on the night as Migdam stayed on best to land the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk.

The 11/2 chance raced in mid division under Adam Caffrey in the initial stages, as course specialist Punk Poet set the fractions out in front.

Tracking the aforementioned gelding into the straight, Caffrey went second over a furlong out as the leader gave way to the second McGuinness trained runner, 2/1f Tosen Wish

Challenging inside the last furlong, Migdam drew level over 150 yards out before staying on the stronger to run out a half-length winner.

Ado McGuinness said: “We’re still figuring this horse out. He ran over a mile and one in Punchestown and just got chinned so we decided to drop him back even though he’d won over a mile and two in Doncaster.

“Hopefully the handicapper won’t be too hard on him. The two of them have fought it out and they are solid horses that we can look forward to for next year.

“I’m not sure what we will do with them now but they are Premier (Handicap) horses for next year.”
