Noel Meade saddled a one two in the HOLLYWOODBETS HORSE RACING AND SPORTS BETTING Handicap as Lunar Power (first time cheek-pieces) led home Too Bright
Colin Keane did the steering on Lunar Power and in the Patricia Hunt colours he got the handicap first-timer home by three parts of a length from his stable companion.
Too Bright dwelt and raced in the rear and was niggled along early. He did his best work at the finish.
“The step up in trip, cheek-pieces, and being gelded was a big help to him,” said Keane.
“Last year he was very babyish and to be honest we weren't sure what his trip was. It took us a while to get the hang of him.
“Noel gelded him after his last run here and said he had been training nicely without killing himself at home so he stuck the cheek-pieces on.
“We were hoping that the step up brought out improvement and to be fair it did.
“He's starting out at the right end of the handicap and hopefully he can improve off that.”
W.T. Byrne, rider of New Appointment trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly in the straight.
