McAteer scores at Navan
The opening race this afternoon at Navan The Kells Nursery Handicap was won by Liam McAteer trained Croisultan owned by The Brunabonne Syndicate and ridden by Pat Smullen.
Liam McAteer said, "Pat [Smullen] was delighted with the horse, he is a hell of a horse with a great attitude. He will have to mandatory 5 pound penalty for Sunday's Birdcatcher at Naas and we will now have to take a good look at the race. If Pat was free to ride her again it would suit obviously and if not we may claim off him".
Smullen is now only one winner behind Johnny Murtagh in the race for the Jockeys Championship.
