The final race of the Bellewstown July Festival, the Panada Qualified Riders Handicap, went to the Oliver Brady trained One Cool Shabra who was providing his rider Ryan Treacy with his first racecourse success.
The 18yo from Co Fermanagh was in fact having his first ever ride on the racecourse but he has rode winners in point-to-points.
The winning 4yo son of One Cool Cat made all and kept on well under pressure when challenged over two furlongs out to score by a length and three parts at the line.
Having opened at 7/1 this morning with Paddy Powers, he opened on track at 5/1 before being backed into 4/1 at the off.
The Willie Mullins trained Deutschland finished second at 13/2 under Aaron Madden while the 7/4 favourite Chicago was a further half a length back in third under Sarah O’Brien for her father Aidan.
A stable representative said after the race: "That was his prep run for Galway. He blew up the last day at the Curragh."
After the race there was a major sting in the tail for Treacy as he was suspended by the Stewards for a total of twenty-one days.
Seven days for using his whip with excessive force and frequency and fourteen days for improper riding.
He also must attend RACE for a day's tution.
