Sarah Lynam recorded a first career double at Dundalk this evening as the rookie trainer again combined with jockey Danny Sheehy to win the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Handicap (div 1) with Tyrconnell
Lynam sent out her first winner in June and today notched her fourth and fifth successes as Sabrina Fairchild landed the 7.00pm race before Tyrconnell doubled tonight's score in his six furlongs handicap.
Jockey Sheehy has partnered all five of Lynam's winners and the trainer's go-to man again produced the goods when producing Tyrconnell with a well timed challenge to bat Rag Tatter by three parts of a length.
Trainer Lynam, daughter of Royal Ascot winning handler Eddie Lynam, later commented “that was brilliant and it's a great night.
“He's been running good races up here and I think he likes the sand, after Laytown and here. He deserved a win and I thought Danny timed it really well because he has to be placed right on the line.
“They went a good old clip and he was able to run on at the end. He wouldn't mind the seven (furlongs) either if they went a good clip.
“It was just the way it was run today but you never know in Dundalk what you are going to get.”
Regarding her strike-rate of four winning horses from eight individual runners, she added “my uncle John told me that but I thought he was biased so I wasn't sure if it was true!
“I like the figure anyway so I'm not going to argue, it's good.”
