Their was a first success in the training ranks for Paul Traynor when Lusis Naturea took the honours in the Magners Rose Apprentice Handicap at Down Royal.
It was quite the night for Joey Sheridan as well as he won on his two mounts on the card, Bahlwan for Denis Hogan earlier and on Lusis Naturea in the penultimate event.
Lusis Naturea was five lengths too strong for Dromana prompting Traynor's partner Karen McNeilly to say: "I've had Lusis Naturea since he was about four. We wanted to keep him at home, so Paul passed his licence about six or seven weeks ago.
"He had a super run in Navan, we couldn't actually believe how well he ran in Navan.
"The jockey gave him a peach of a ride - he followed every instruction we gave him.
"We've only a couple in as we've only started. It is just something that Paul has always wanted to do. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards.
"We are just off Nutts Corner in County Antrim."
P.A. Harnett, rider of Every Breath trained by S.Wilson, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle slipped after one and a half furlongs.
