For the second time in as many races at Killarney we had a horse shaping well from the front that ultimately had to give way. Again too we had a beaten odds-on Ballydoyle favourite as the pace-setting Schubert (8/13) yielded by a neck to Look Closer in the mosscontrol.ie Maiden.
Look Closer represents Dermot Weld and Moyglare Stud Farm, and here he was running for the first time since being gelded and he also had blinkers applied for the initial occasion.
The Leigh Roche-ridden son of Danehill Dancer was soon tracking Schubert and he got there a hundred yards out to gain the day by a neck. Quids In was a length behind in third and there was nine lengths to the fourth home Circuit Breaker
"He hadn't any injury but had a setback early in the year. The boss (Weld) said he was as good as he could get him but got a bit tired and took a heave in the straight," stated Roche.
"He is a bit lazy but is genuine and tries hard."
The Stewards informed Michael J. Browne, trainer that Master Vega would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
