A good jump at the last by Littletown Lass when switched to the inside by Paddy Kennedy paid dividends in the competitive two mile handicap hurdle at Tramore as the pair got up by a neck to win.

You have to go back to September 2010 for Littletown Lass’s only other victory in a Downpatrick bumper. She unseated Kennedy in her last run in June at Ballinrobe and thus was sent off at 12/1 in the 14-runner contest.

She battled well to the line after jumping the last in third place and fended off 7/1 chance Pretty Happy who had been backed down from 10/1 this morning.

7/2 favourite Give Us A Hand was two lengths back in third under Robbie Moran.

Successful Breeder Valentine Cross was in attendance with his wife Una, who owns Littletown Lass. They own Slate Lodge Stud near Rathangan, Co Kildare and have three mares.

Trainer Sean Byrne said: “She loved the ground and we may head to Listowel.”
