The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden saw Limiti Di Greccio (7/2) make a winning start for new connections in the hands of Billy Lee.
Having her first run for Paddy Twomey in the colours of American owner Martin Schwartz, the daughter of Elzaam did well to overcome a wide trip from her draw in stall 13.
Having raced mid-division, she improved on the run to home turn and at the same time managed to move in a little closer to the leaders on the inner. She picked up well to lead in the final furlong and went on to score by a length and a quarter from Kerkiyra (12/1), with the 16/5 favourite Voice Of Angels a further half a length away in third place.
The winner was getting off the mark on her third outing, and had finished second over course and distance last month for previous owner/trainer John Kinsella.
She’s a half-sister to two winners including Denis Hogan’s useful handicapper Big Baby Bull, and holds an entry in next month’s Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket.
She is named after the picturesque old hilltown of Greccio in the region of Lazio in central Italy.
Paddy Twomey said: “I’m delighted she won and it’s very unlike me to run one only having her such a short time but she’s an absolute credit to Johnny Kinsella who trained her before.
“She never missed a beat and did everything right since she came into our place. He gave me great confidence the day I collected her that this would happen.
“I hope she is going to be a Stakes filly going forward and I decided that if she was going to be that she would have to come here and win today.
“She’s out of Galileo mare and she should get a mile in time. I’d imagine she will come back here for the Ingabelle on Champions Weekend and I will be getting to know her between now and then.”
On last weekend’s impressive Group 3 winner La Petite Coco, Twomey added: “She has come out of her race (Give Thanks Stakes at Cork) very well. She’s never missed a beat and has licked the pot.
“I’d imagine she will go for either the Blandford Stakes or the Prix Vermeille.
“It’s not set in stone and I will see how she is. She’s an improving filly.”
