Macs Legend made most of the running to claim the hunters chase at Tramore in fine style.

The 5/4 favourite was pressed coming to the second last in the two-mile five contest but picked up well for Johnny Barry going to the last.

Gerard Kelleher 's charge was spring heeled at the final fence and went on to record a seven lengths success over Caniwillyegiveme

Macs Legend had finished second at Cork last time having won a point-to-point at Ballynoe previously.

It was a first success 'under rules' for the Macroom handler since Clearly In Motion won at Taunton back in October 2006.

"He is a fun horse for us. On his Cork run he was the obvious one, and he did it well. He will go to Tipperary or Killarney now,” said the winning trainer.

“There is races in both places for him and he'll go for one of them. We will keep him in point-to-point's for next season. He is owned by Shane Prenderville from Macroom. Himself and his dad ride out for us."

"I'm the chairman of the handlers associations, and what I'd like for the Turf Club to do would be allow all handlers to be allowed run their horses in hunter chases and point-to-point bumpers.

“At the moment those races are for trainers and restricted trainers only. The ordinary point-to-point handler can't have runners in them, but they can in England. I'd like for it to be the same way here."
