Scatchwah 12/1) came from well back to annex the Oran Handicap and became the second leg of a double for Sheila Lavery.

Robbie Colgan 's mount was fully third last rounding the home bend, but soon switched out to try and make headway.

Progress ensued and he was strong in the closing of this extended 1m4f trip after he picked up the lead.

The four-year-old grey put a length and a-quarter on Cast A Spell (10/1). Soul Of Spain was half a length back in third at 8/1.

Colgan said: “He stays really well. He had a good run the last day in his first handicap.

“I was worried the ground might be a bit dead, but he handled it really well today.

“He should hopefully keep progressing. It's nice to get that out of him anyway and hopefully he takes another step forward.”

Gary Carroll was on board Vestigia (5/4f) for Lavery in race four.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the home bend involving Herculaneum, ridden by G. Brouder, unseated, and Scatchwah, ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed first, where it appeared Herculaneum clipped a heel and unseated the rider. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. G. Brouder stated that Scatchwah took his path and he received contact and clipped a heel. R.C. Colgan stated that he thought he was clear of Herculaneum and didn't feel any contact. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R.C. Colgan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (third offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended him for eight racedays.
