Khelino gives Sweeney first juvenile success
Khelino showed the benefit of her debut run when scoring at the second time of asking in the opening auction maiden at Cork today.
Rodger Sweeney was saddling his first ever juvenile winner as the cheaply bought daughter of Kheleyf scored under Ben Curtis.
The 10/1 shot (33/1 in the morning) was pushed along to lead a furlong from home and soon asserted for a cosy two-length success over even-money favourite Joe Eile
The winner, owned by the trainer's wife Joan, was bought for just 4,000 guineas at Goffs.
"That's my first two-year-old winner. She walked out of the stalls first time at the Curragh but came home well and was only beaten about seven lengths," said Sweeney.
"She's got plenty of boot and is for sale if we get the right money."
