Herewgo got up in the closing stages to take the opener at Leopardstown, the Johnnie Fox's EBF Auction Maiden, scoring on his debut under Chris Hayes for Kevin Prendergast. Primo Uomo was sent off the 5/2 favourite for Ger O'Leary and Pat Smullen, and he appeared to make a decisive move to the front over a furlong out.

However the once raced son of Strategic Prince failed to see it out, as the winner came with his run on the outside, hitting the front in the closing stages before going on to score by a neck. Splashtop kept on close home to take second at 7/1 under Declan McDonogh for Patrick Prendergast, while the favourite had to settle for third, a further neck back.

Kevin Prendergast said afterwards: "He will be better over seven furlongs or a mile and I was hoping it wouldn’t be too short for him today.

"That ground wouldn't do him any harm, although I wouldn’t like to run him on very fast ground.

"The Syndicate (On Target Syndicate) are headed up by bloodstock agent Kevin Ross, and they have been a lucky syndicate."

The winner, who cost €30,000 as a yearling, is from the family of Gran Criterium and Italian Guineas winner Candy Glen.
