Seamie Heffernan took the riding honours at Dundalk this evening completing a 428/1 treble as the superbly bred Express Way made a winning debut in the View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Maiden.
The Burns family homebred filly is out of Alluring Park who has already produced a list of high-class winners, notably Was who won the Oaks ten years ago in the hands of one Seamie Heffernan.
The Paddy Twomey-trained daughter of Dark Angel was weak in the market drifting before the off from 9/2 out to 10/1 and looked in trouble when driven along early in the straight.
However, she kept on well between horses inside the final furlong to beat Rockview Consort by half a length with Cristal Clere just a head away in third.
Heffernan said, "She has a beautiful pedigree and Paddy (Twomey) said that she had strengthened a lot the last month, and she was ready for a good run.
"She has got a beautiful attitude and she's a very big filly. I would say she has got plenty of class.
"I know it was only a Dundalk maiden, but I hit the line really good. It was a pleasure to be on her."
Heffernan was also on the mark earlier aboard Catherine Of Siena (9/4) and Eastern Tornado (11/1).
