The progressive I Siyou Baby (9/2) completed a hat-trick in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap, and in so doing provided winning trainer Joseph O’Brien with a quick double (paid just under 24/1).
O’Brien had won the previous race with River Derwent and his representative here came through to challenge under 5lb claimer Mikey Sheehy racing to the final furlong. The daughter of Siyouni hit the front in the final hundred yards and kept on well to beat 3/1 favourite Flagged by half a length, with Amazed By Grace (16/1) nearest at the finish a further neck away in third.
The winner had broken her maiden at the Curragh last month before following up in a handicap over this course and distance four days later.
Assistant trainer Brendan Powell, representing O’Brien, said: “She’s very tough, very hardy and what she lacks in raw ability she makes up for in how hard she tries.
“I’d say with her pedigree he’ll be looking for black type for her after this and deservedly so.
“That little drop of rain helped us as well. Last time when she won here Mikey thought it was just a little bit quick for her.
“I think she’ll stay further but there is no reason to at the moment. She’s got pace and she’s very tough.”
