Australian Group 1 winner Comin' Through easily won the On Twitter @DundalkStadium Claiming Race at Dundalk today, and the Johnny Levins trained gelding was later claimed by owners Genesis Thoroughbreds, who will move the seven year old to trainer Jack Davidson.

Well-named Comin' Through was a high class performer in his native Australia, winning the Group 1 Doomben Cup in 2018 when trained by Chris Waller.

However the son of Fastnet Rock lost all form when trained by George Scott in Britain and was bought for 10,000gns in August.

Today on his second start, both in Claimers, for trainer Johnny Levins the seven year old, backed from 5/1 to 7/2f under Donagh O'Connor, rekindled his old spark as he powered clear of 11 rivals to eventually beat Boitron by an impressive seven lengths.

Levins later said “I don’t think the Australians will be too happy with me running a Group 1 horse in a claiming race. He was very stale when we got him and we just tried to sweeten him up.

“We’ve done very little work with him. He had a nice run up here and we felt a pair of blinkers would sharpen him back up.

“He’s hosed up and won by seven lengths. He’s obviously rekindled some of his old form. I’ll be happy enough if I can get another couple of wins out of him if he’s not claimed.”

Genesis Thoroughbreds were successful, from four claims, and bought Comin' Through for E15,000, with Jack Davidson now set to train the gelding.

Third-placed and 49 rated Alwisaam under jockey Siobhan Rutledge, was also claimed for E5,000, by trainer John McConnell.
