Casual investors in the big Pick 6 rollover at Navan could be going well after an odds-on winner of the first, a Davy Russell-ridden victor of the second and race three, the Follow Navan On Twitter Handicap Hurdle went to the only last time out winner in the field, Green Energy
With Andrew Thornton taking over in the plate from the trainer's brother Kevin Smith, who won on the Rainbow Quest seven-year-old at Down Royal, the 7/1 shot found enough from the last when plenty still held chances, to see off Baroque Style by a length and a half.
Handler Matthew Smith stated: "He did it nicely. I'm delighted for Stephen (McCormack, the owner) – he deserves that – he was good enough to send me a horse – he put his faith in me and it's good that we've repaid him.
"He's a nice horse. I don't know where we'll go next but I'm delighted with that.
"He handled better ground at Down Royal the last day and he handled that ground today well.
"He's improved since his last run and I knew that coming here. He was in good old order." (GC & EM)
