Final Orders has proved a revelation since switched to fences in recent months and completed a four-timer when staying on strongly to land the ‘Bet Through The Free Racing Post App’ Handicap Chase at Leopardstown.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding has proved versatile in terms of trip and took this drop back to 2m1f in his stride.
Keith Donoghue was getting right down to his minimum mark, putting up 2lb overweight at 11st3lb, and the Camelot gelding proved well worth it staying on strongly in the straight.
The 7/2 chance asserted on the run-in to beat The Folkes Tiara by four lengths, with Halsafari a further seven lengths back in third.
Cromwell said, “The owners (C M D Syndicate) are getting great fun out of this horse and he’s been a revelation since he went chasing.
“He’s only a small horse, he’s not even 16 hands, but he loves jumping.
“He’s third reserve for the Paddy Power tomorrow. That was always on our mind and maybe we’ll get there next year.
“He needs three miles over hurdles and it’s just his jumping that helps him over fences. He has the proven stamina and was strong from the second last.
“The Dan Moore is going back another furlong but maybe that could be something we might look at for him.”
