Experience proves the key to Tiz The Shot
Tiz The Shot made the most of his three previous runs to step up and score in the one mile maiden at Leopardstown at 7/2 by half a length from favourite Notable Graduate The pair pulled five lengths clear of third-placed Pirate Chest
Winning trainer Kevin Prendergast explained the gelding’s success. He said: “He stays well and a mile and a quarter will be no problem to him. He’s a straightforward horse and has grown up. He was the most experienced horse in the race. I would say the ground out there is good ground."
Notable Graduate making his debut for Dermot Weld was supported on course from 4/1 to 3/1 favouritism, but couldn’t reel in the winner. Massabini restricted trainer James Hartnett’s first two-year-old runner, finished a commendable fourth.
