Elliott makes a Beauty out of Brave

Wed 27th Oct 2010, 17:55

Brave Beauty stepped up markedly on the form displayed in three starts for Peter Mooney when sluicing up in the concluding Thoroughbred County Mares INH Flat Race at Punchestown on outing number one for Gordon Elliott.

Jamie Codd, successful here in the bumper yesterday on Wandering Aengus, did the steering on this daughter of Accordion and like twenty four hours earlier the Wexford amateur was never too far from the pace, leading three furlongs out before striking on two out in the familiar Sean Gallagher silks. He went on to beat the well-backed favourite Ross Bay (5/2 in the morning into 11/8) by a comprehensive twelve lengths.

Elliott struck with Fool's Wildcat yesterday, who was having his second start for Capranny Stables and he said of Brave Beauty (well-backed but disappointing on her previous start 97 days back): "She is a nice mare and won very well. It is hard to keep condition on her and we'll see how she comes out of this before making plans."
