D's Trix gives McNamara welcome success
Andrew McNamara denied a good winner in narrow circumstances with Dance The Devil at Clonmel on Thursday had a nice success with D's Trix in the Charleville Cheese Handicap Steeplechase at Limerick.
Alan Crowe led on the well-backed (13/2 into 5/1) Quws gelding before two out and he kept on well on the run-in to beat Korean by four lengths. Mountain Lough stayed on to finish eight lengths further back in third.
McNamara said of the Deirdre Kearney-owned seven-year-old, twice a winner over flights: "He had a soft palate operation in January and it worked a treat. There will be plenty of opportunities for him in the spring and summer."
